An evening in with Sylvia Jiang, piano concerto competition prizewinner, online

It is no surprise that Hastings International Piano (HIP)’s An Evening In with… concert series has been a success. Innovative culture is always welcome – and now more so than ever with theatres and cinemas closed due to  Covid-19. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths is pleased that the series continues this Friday, 24 April, with Sylvia Jiang, a prizewinner at the 2019 Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.

International Women’s Day in Hastings!

Women’s Voice invites women to join them in celebrating International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March from 1pm – 3pm at Central Hall, Bank Buildings (between 1066 Bakery and The Body Shop) in the town centre. The theme is women and the environment and guest speaker will be Councillor Maya Evans, cabinet member for climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development. Ann Kramer, chair of Women’s Voice, writes about the upcoming event, and future plans for Women’s Voice.

A festival to inspire Hastings’ young musical talent

This week sees the first event of the inaugural Hastings International Piano Festival which takes place from 26 February to 8 March at the White Rock Theatre and St Mary in the Castle. The festival homes in on all genres of music with an educational and entertaining offering of events. Meet Rachael Perrin from Soundcastle

Soundcastle is a Hastings-based creative music-making social enterprise which supports the development of wellbeing, confidence and resilience in communities. On Friday 20 March Soundcastle will be running an “Innovation through Improvisation” workshop at the AltPitch festival’s The Platform one-day conference.
