Hear BUOY at Barnaby’s this Saturday
Mad about the BUØY
Sharon Rhodes waxes lyrical about BUØY – playing at Barnaby’s Lounge this Saturday, 20 April.
It promises to be an unforgettable night filled with soul-stirring performances. The evening kicks off at 8pm with enchanting melodies from Piano Man Dan, followed by the captivating tunes of singer-songwriter guitarist Ben Maier who makes timeless 80s-influenced romance rock, with emotive lyrics, infectious melodies and sing-along choruses inspired by the anthemic power ballads of Tina Turner and The Boss.
BUØY take to the stage with electrifying sounds and a fusion of upcoming releases and jazzy favorites. Their unique blend of classical and contemporary styles, infused with deeply personal notes from their trans and queer identity, promises to take audiences on a journey through conventionally constructed pop to ambient soundscapes with emotive lyrics. With a vocal style often compared to the likes of Bon Iver, Sigur Ros and James Blake, and piano playing reminiscent of Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds.
Accompanying BUØY is their newly founded ‘BuoyBand’, composed of talented local musicians PJ Flynn on bass and George Duncan on guitar, along with drummer Tristan Blurton. With recent sold-out headline shows in Dalston and standout performances at Piano Smithfield, BUOY is set to ignite the stage once again.
Local legend Dr Jules will deliver an unforgettable mix of covers and originals to close the night in style – treat yourself to a cocktail as you immerse yourself in the magic of live music. This is an event you simply can’t afford to miss!
BUØY, Ben and Piano Man Dan will be at Barnabys Lounge on Robertson Street this Saturday, 20 April from 8pm. If you can’t make it, then mark your calendars for future BUOY performances, including Trans Pride at the Observer Building on 20 July and a show at the O2 Academy Islington on 8 August.
