Around & About: Turning a life around

HOT’s Zelly Restorick recently read these words – from Leo Buscaglia – and wants to share them with you. Words that may resonate – as givers and receivers of loving, thoughtful, caring actions.

Around and About XVI

Having a coffee in Hoagies Cafe, watching the world go by, I overheard two local men talking to the waitresses about the post EU Leave Vote safety pin campaign – symbolising allegiance with people of all cultures, writes Zelly Restorick. A sign that simply says: I’m a friend not a foe.

The War of the Poppies?

The White Peace Poppy is in remembrance of all the victims of all the wars. Post WWI, the womenfolk – the mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc – of the men who had died, or were injured or terminally scarred, mentally and physically, by what they had seen and experienced, created the idea of the White Peace Poppy. To remember what had happened – and with the intention that it would never happen again. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.

A friend of mine has asked me to write about her motor-biking friend, who died at the end of June on the road to Icklesham, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick. “So sad… have lost a few friends this way… time to raise awareness, please. My advice? Put your phone in the boot so you can’t be tempted to answer it or text in jams, etc, unless you stop properly.”

A little something I’m experimenting with, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick! Giving up relentless pushing and forcing and exploring the concept of allowing things to happen more organically. Interesting results. Worth a try!
