Meet Rachael Perrin from Soundcastle

Soundcastle is a Hastings-based creative music-making social enterprise which supports the development of wellbeing, confidence and resilience in communities. On Friday 20 March Soundcastle will be running an “Innovation through Improvisation” workshop at the AltPitch festival’s The Platform one-day conference. HOT’s Erica Smith asked director Rachael Perrin to tell us more about what Soundcastle offers.

Polo Piatti - Composer of Libera Nos

Experienced singers wanted!

Celebrated Hastings-based composer Polo Piatti is looking for 20 committed singers to join the distinguished London Mozart Players performing the world-premiere of his powerful and emotional multi-faith oratorio Libera Nos. The new choir will also be joined by members of the Hastings Sinfonia, five soloists and a children’s choir. HOT’s Chandra Masoliver reports.

National Youth Jazz Orchestra links up with piano festival

As its inaugural season approaches, Hastings International Piano Festival has gone into partnership with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) to provide a platform for the orchestra’s ambitious 2020 educational offer. Nick Terdre reports.

Bulverhythe planning forum leaves questions unanswered

An update on the council’s proposed housing development on Bulverhythe recreation ground were provided at a pre-application planning forum this week. But although planning permission is expected to be sought in the spring, much about the project remains undecided, and many concerns raised by local residents are yet to be answered.
