Sussex Wildlife Trust response to Coronavirus

As the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve recently held its first guided walk in several months, the Sussex Wildlife Trust recently announced that they have achieved the official UK Tourism ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry and consumer mark as they slowly begin to re-open their facilities and limited events to the public. The trust recently released the following announcement.

Hastings begins to open up

Hastings took an important step towards reopening on Saturday as step three of the government’s relaxation of lockdown restrictions came into effect. The council issued a cautious welcome but was pleased to see the West Hill Lift back in operation. New support measures for local businesses were announced by the government today. Coronavirus statistical update: Leicester hotspot revealed by more detailed data

Leicester is now in lockdown, but it only became clear that it was a coronavirus hotspot when a glaring deficiency in the provision of local data was remedied. The more detailed data reveal that the extent of infections at local authority level has been underestimated around the country, including in Hastings, Rother and East Sussex. Coronavirus statistical update: teething problems for test and trace

The app which the government was trialling on the Isle of Wight has had to be abandoned – a setback for the test and trace system which lies at the heart of the government’s strategy for containing the spread of coronavirus while progressively relaxing restrictions and getting the economy and schools functioning again.
