Earlyworks Press launches new anthology

Locally run publishing group Earlyworks Press is about to launch their latest book of competition winners’ short stories, The Sorcery of Smog. Earlyworks produces anthologies of poetry and fiction by writers who have been successful in their competitions, as well as work by members of their club and their associates. Open to all, the competitions attract work of a high standard from across the English-speaking world. HOT’s Zelly Restorick asked Kay Green about Earlyworks origins and her vision.

London exhibition for local artist

Life-long Hastings resident Thom Kofoed is an artist to watch. With an uncanny talent for capturing the essence of a person in his portraits and 100% dedicated to evolving his craft, Thom is fully committed to his quest to leave an artistic footprint representing his existence on the planet, his values and passions. HOT’s Zelly Restorick  asks about his latest exhibition at The Poetry Society in London, ‘You are an Ocean and I am a Living Thing’, his inspiration and artistic goals.

‘Meet You At The Mosaic’ project

Congratulations! The Transition Town Hastings (TTH) initiative, ‘Meet You At The Mosaic’, has been selected as one of the chosen projects for the March – April 2018 Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme. HOT’s Zelly Restorick, keen to spread the word and gather support, asks TTH about the project.

The Hastings Refugee Buddy Project

A refugee who arrived in the UK in the 1970s has recently founded a Buddy project for the Syrian families arriving in Hastings through the Government’s Syrian Resettlement Project (SRP). A team of Buddies is now working closely with the council SRP caseworker. Rossana Leal’s inspiration comes from her own experience as a refugee child and she tells us about why it is a project so close to her heart.
