Joining forces for sustainable transport

Sustainable Transport Day last Saturday proved a worthwhile venture, bringing together various groups of people with an interest in transport questions and highlighting the authorities’ failure to implement the Hastings Walking and Cycling Strategy which was agreed in 2014. Nick Terdre reports.

Great new acts at Battle Street Festival

Sunshine is forecast this Saturday for April’s Streets of Battle street arts festival. For a second month the festival brings free street performances for the whole family with two brand new shows.

Secret walled garden

Visitors can discover the secrets of a hidden garden when the international Chelsea Fringe Festival comes to Hastings in May. Members of the Bohemia Walled Garden Association (BWGA) will celebrate the growing success of their community project on Sunday, 21 May, when they use their annual open day to host Fringe events. Local politicians prepare for electoral battle

She said she wouldn’t, then she did. In the end political calculation looks to have won out over sticking to one’s word. Not that that little matter hindered Prime Minister Theresa May from winning a large majority in Parliament this week for a snap general election to be held on 8 June. Nor did her U-turn faze Hastings’ politicians, who are raring for the fight. Nick Terdre reports.
