Ebb & Flow – the textiles show at Hastings Arts Forum

The textiles show at Hastings Arts Forum is now in its third year – and what a symphony of sumptuousness it has become! This year’s theme, Ebb & Flow, invited responses which were not limited to the sea but pondered its wider significance. Twenty one artists rose to the challenge. HOT reporter Cathy Simpson was charmed, delighted and moved by the resulting show.

Hastings Museum and Art Gallery

Your museum, your say

Culture Shift is working with Hastings Museum and Art Gallery to find out more about how we use the museum, by organising a creative consultation. They would like to invite you to an event to explore your ideas and views on the museum, now and in the future.

Hastings has a wine shop, at last. St Leonards has two: Phoenix & Plum in Kings Road; and you can buy wine at Graze on Grand on the front. But now Borough Wines, Beers & Books has their own wine shop. It opened in Robertson Street and, having given it a few weeks to bed in, HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went to take a look.

Art Station to Art Station…

Even after Coastal Currents, it is impossible to escape from art in this town… Last Thursday saw the opening of the second photography show at Hastings Station by a group of artists known collectively as ‘EDGE’. And this weekend, the forecourt of St Leonards Warrior Square station will become the arena for a very slow race by life-size garden gnomes, whilst the ‘SPACE’ next door will be the temporary home for installations by a group of Belgian artists. HOT’s Erica Smith sees her home town through alien eyes.
