Art Station to Art Station…

Even after Coastal Currents, it is impossible to escape from art in this town… Last Thursday saw the opening of the second photography show at Hastings Station by a group of artists known collectively as ‘EDGE’. And this weekend, the forecourt of St Leonards Warrior Square station will become the arena for a very slow race by life-size garden gnomes, whilst the ‘SPACE’ next door will be the temporary home for installations by a group of Belgian artists. HOT’s Erica Smith sees her home town through alien eyes.

Exploring the Edge

Earlier this week, I went along to the Hastings Community Network’s Culture Exchanges meeting at The Jerwood, exploring art and culture in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea – and one of the ideas as to how art could be brought to a wider community was ‘more art in public spaces – such as car parks, supermarkets and pubs’. The Edge, a newly formed collective of artists currently exhibiting at Hastings Station, agree 100% with this suggestion, ‘hoping to continue showing photography in unexpected places’. HOT’s Zelly Restorick went along to The Station Gallery to see the different interpretations of ‘Edge’.

Hastings Film Makers Festival 2013

Doors open for home-grown film festival

UPDATE: CORRECTION TO STORY. The  Hastings Shorts series of short films, showing Saturday 27 April at 2.30pm at The Jerwood Gallery, is a new collection and not, as we originally reported, a repeat of last year’s Arrow In The Eye event.
