Local musicians resuscitate Twin Town connection
World renowned, locally-based jazz singer, Liane Carroll and popular local band, The Kytes are getting together to back the campaign to help our Twin Town, Hastings, Sierra Leone in its recovery from the devastating Ebola outbreak and from the recent floods. They will be playing at the Friendship Link’s Charity Ball at The Montgomerie Suite, Bannatynes Hotel on Saturday 31 October.

Richard Homewood, Chair of the Link said, “We are delighted that Liane and The Kytes have agreed to perform at the event and help us raise much needed funds to aid the recovery of our Twin Town. Hastings, Sierra Leone was hit hard by the Ebola outbreak and had two of the Ebola Treatment Centres on its doorstep. Our friends there are facing real challenges as they try to re-establish normal life, get the children back to school and support the numerous orphaned children within the community.
“We have been hard at work raising funds and collecting equipment and materials for the schools and the Health Centre. We have sent food aid, protective equipment and other goods during the crisis – and we hope to ship another container of goods to Sierra Leone in the next few weeks.
“We are sure everybody will have a most enjoyable evening and we hope to raise as much as possible for our campaign. We are extremely grateful to Liane and The Kytes for donating their time and talent for this great cause. It would be fantastic if we could fill the hall and raise lots of money to help the community in our Twin Town, Hastings, Sierra Leone. “
Tickets for the Charity Ball can be obtained from Lynn on 01424 853356. At £38, they include a glass of bubbly, a three course meal and coffee, as well as great entertainment. Tables of 8 to 10 are available if people want to make it a family or work event.
