Climate Action meeting: All welcome!

Extinction Rebellion in Hastings & St Leonards

An Extinction Rebellion (XR) Group is rising in our local area. Seeds are being planted. Ideas and initiatives are evolving. And you too can rebel against extinction. All welcome. All inclusive: climate change affects all of us. HOT’s Zelly Restorick, an XR Rebel, writes.

Willcocks portrait exhibition: extended!

One Shot. I heard about this exhibition from one of the artists who’s been photographed. One Shot. One snap of the lens and that’s it, photoshoot ended. Next! However it’s clear that photographer, Tim Willcocks wanted to capture – and has been successful – the core intrinsic essence of the person. Their uniqueness. Captured in a single image. One chance. The exhibition has now been extended for another week, along with opportunities to chat to Tim Willcocks himself. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.

Sustainability on Sea: 22-30 September!

Sustainability… makes sense, n’est-ce pas? This week of events, jointly organised by Transition Town Hastings (TTH) and Energise Sussex Coast (ESC), is celebrating all things sustainable in our local area: gathering together as many of the organisations who are already thinking in sustainable terms. Starting with the ocean symposium, culminating in a big festival day and with all sorts of good stuff happening in between, you are very welcome to come along, check things out and get involved.

Genuinely in awe of Ore

Ore is said to be one of the poorest parts of the country, yet HOT’s Zelly Restorick feels it has much to offer its residents, workers and passing through visitors. With this in mind, she spoke to Mags Pawson, the manager at Ore Community Centre (OCC), whose dedication and generosity have made the centre a thriving hive of activities and events for many years. Long may the OCC ship sail!

No Voice, No Choice

“I am banging the ban long distance live exports drum again”, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick. Michael Gove is apparently now considering not banning this cruel industry, post Brexit, but making some restrictions. If this is an issue you care about, now is the time to do something.
