Nick Hill exhibition at Zoom’s Warrior Square station gallery

Local artist Nick Hill has an exhibition of paintings and other work opening in the Zoom Arts gallery at Warrior Square station on Saturday 23 November. Raising money for charity is close to his heart – having raised £500, he is now aiming to reach £1,000, as he explains.

Protest over bathing pool site plans called for early Saturday

Come to Daisy’s Food Bank Party this Friday!

This Friday, 22 November, a little girl called Daisy is hosting a party in All Saints Church Hall, Sidley. There will be a visit from a Princess, a disco, dancing, drinks and snack – but this isn’t a birthday party – it’s a fundraiser for Bexhill Foodbank. Hustings arranged for Friday in town centre

Locally based author and former journalist, Colin Bateman talks to Angela J. Phillip about his process as a writer and his latest book Beyond the Waves. The new novel is inspired by real events and Tom Kidd, a part-time journalist (and the hero of his previous novel) gets involved in unravelling the story of the hidden past in order to solve crimes that are being reported in the present.

Council declines to help clarify ‘tax for terrorism’ claim

Anti-war activist Chris Coverdale wants to query the legality of paying taxes, including council tax, which are used in part to fund military activities – according to a Supreme Court ruling, the government’s military activities may be classifiable as terrorism, and could therefore fall foul of laws outlawing fundraising for terrorist purposes. He has tried, without success, to enlist the help of Hastings Borough Council in clarifying whether paying council tax makes us all potential criminals. Nick Terdre reports.
