People’s Vote endorsement boosts Labour candidate

Labour has received a boost with an endorsement for its candidate Peter Chowney from the People’s Vote campaign, which calls on Remainers to vote tactically. The move is a setback for the Liberal Democrats. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings Herring Fair returns next weekend!

The Hastings Herring Fair is set to return for an eighth year this November 23-24 on the Stade open space. The event will be free to enter and will serve a variety of delectable local fish dishes, as well as offering food and drink stalls and live bands. Ore Valley site to be sold to Gemselect, Heart of Hastings “bitterly disappointed”

Sea Space has decided to sell the Ore Valley site to Gemselect, which is looking at a possible development of 66-75 dwellings. The decision means an end to Heart of Hastings’ dream of a community-based development. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings Against War holds remembrance ceremony

On Saturday 9 November Hastings Against War (HAW) held its annual remembrance for all victims of war at the war memorial in Alexandra Park. Local people, including council leader Peter Chowney, gathered to remember the victims, military and civilian alike, before a wreath of white poppies was laid at the memorial. HAW’s John Enefer reports.

Beard Shave fundraiser for Violet

The fundraiser is on behalf of little local resident, Violet, who has a rare genetic condition. The last fundraising event – a sponsored head shave – raised over £1000 and the family and friends would really like the next one – a sponsored beard shave, taking place on 23 November 23 – to do the same. Sarah Corrie writes on behalf of Violet and her supporters.
