Hastings White Rock celebrates the launch of Studio 27 – a bold new creative space for Hastings
The White Rock has proudly unveiled its newly refurbished studio space, now officially named Studio 27. The celebratory launch event welcomed guests from across the local creative community and beyond to toast the future of this exciting performance space.
Studio 27 marks a significant milestone for the venue, designed to be a bold, multi-purpose space for innovative programming, collaboration, and creativity. This more intimate space will compliment the venue’s busy programme in the main auditorium, whilst having its own unique identity and programme.
With a name that honours the theatre’s founding year, 1927, the space also looks firmly to the future, with ambitions to host the most exciting and dynamic artists performing today.

Venue Director Nadine Passley welcomed attendees with a speech celebrating the transformation of the space and the opportunities Studio 27 will offer for both artists and audiences. Guests were treated to bubbly and canapés as they explored the space and its new identity.
A highlight of the evening was an exclusive live performance by music duo MimiNi, who gave a captivating rendition of their upcoming single Forget Me Not, ahead of its official release today. The launch also included tours of The Base, the adjacent, newly refurbished digital learning suite, further showcasing The White Rock and The Guildhall Trust’s commitment to education, access, and innovation.
Passley commented, “Studio 27 is more than just a refurbishment, it’s a fresh chapter. We’re creating a space that is unafraid to be different, where creativity thrives, and where Hastings can experience the unexpected.”

Some of the upcoming highlights coming to Studio 27 include Bev Lee Harling’s one woman show, Ploughing the Salt Sea (11 & 12 September); folk sister duo The Rheingans Sisters (17 September), comedian Desiree Burch with her new show, The Golden Wrath (21 November); and The Legends of Drag with Cherry Liquor (7 November).
