4th year for Battle Festival

Now in its fourth year, Battle Festival has quickly become regarded as a cultural gem in the South East’s calendar. With a diverse, family-friendly focus, the festival will stage an eclectic range of events and activities throughout October. Hannah Collisson writes.

10 October: Love Hastings Love Yourself CD launch for World Mental Health Day

The Love Hastings Love Yourself Team have been very busy since this time last year when the first LHLY event was held at The Observer Building. Over the last 12 months there has been a series of pop-up Happiness Cafes, a stall at Hastings Pride and a plethora of other activities including an all-day Together for Mental Wellbeing music and spoken word event at The Palace on 1 April this year. Since then, the participating musicians, poets and choirs have all recorded a song for a CD.

Fish House progress report

Ken Davis, local resident, insulation specialist and architect, bought The Fish House – an ex fish-shop – in Hastings specifically to demonstrate how a wreck of a building could be transformed into a beautiful eco-refurb home. From time to time, he has given us updates about this work is progressing.

Hastings Harbour – surprise proposal

Many people in Hastings Old Town and beyond were taken aback by the seemingly undemocratic and sudden way the proposal for a very large Marina on Rock a Nore was recently sprung upon them. HOT’s Chandra Masoliver summarises some of the key aspects of the feasibility study related to this proposal, which was voted for by Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council at a meeting at Aquila House on Monday 11 September 2017.
