Two talented local artists, up-and-coming on the Hastings/St Leonards art scene, bring you an exciting and vibrant mixed media exhibition at the Zoom Arts Gallery. Anna Bachene and Anthony P Birch are no strangers to exhibiting their creations, both very quickly establishing themselves in the world of art, as Zoom reports.
Hastings Borough Council has lost its Supreme Court appeal against the ruling that it is liable to pay compensation for business losses suffered when it closed the pier for safety reasons in 2006. However, it says it “retains the moral high ground” after judges decided on a more sympathetic interpretation of the Building Act 1984. Nick Terdre reports.
A community arts project has been completed in Warrior Square in St Leonards in memory of Jeremy Birch, council leader in 2001-08 and 2010-15 until his untimely death in May 2015. HBC media office reports.

Registration is now open for The Big Sleep Hastings 2016, raising awareness of homelessness and money for Seaview, the local organisation that helps the most vulnerable people in the town. The event will take place on Friday 30 September, starting at 7.30pm and ending at 7am the following morning.
