Kim Wan: no blank canvas
It’s over eight years since HOT last interviewed Kim Wan. In the meantime his practice has developed and paint has merged with pixels. 2021 ended with the award of a Grand Prize at Scope Art Fair, Art Basel, Miami Beach. Erica Smith decided it was time to catch up and see what’s new.

Kim Wan is a Hastings homeboy and one of the town’s biggest artists – in stature, as well as the size of his canvases and his reputation. Transceiver performances at the Spirit of Invention exhibition
The Spirit of Invention exhibition at Electro Studios celebrates John Logie Baird’s amazing inventions. It includes locally built technology from the 1960s amongside new work by artists from Hastings and London. It runs Friday 10 to Sunday 12 May. The ever expanding world of ORNAGH

Fund-raising sale of art
A sale of art will take place on Saturday 18th in aid of Hastings Supports Refugees and the local Labour Party’s Good Ruddance fighting fund. Rachel Lever, one of the moving forces behind the initiative, writes in praise of the sale of art as fund-raiser.
Artists rally round for HIP fundraiser
Hastings Independent Press, now in its 14th edition after launching in February, is staging a fund-raising auction of local art on Tuesday at The Crown pub on All Saints Street. HOT’s Nick Terdre reports.
