Hastings Sinfonia back at the De La Warr for Fiesta concert
For their summer concert Hastings Sinfonia take to the stage of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Sunday 22 June. It’s a larger setting appropriate for Fiesta, a thrilling programme of Spanish and Latin American music, as Alexandra Hudson reveals.
Join Hastings Sinfonia, guest soloists, singers and dancers for a celebration of the unforgettable tunes and rhythms of Spain and South America. Revel in the sultry arias of George Bizet’s Carmen, the enchanting melodies of Tchaikovsky’s Spanish Dance from Swan Lake, and spellbinding live flamenco dance.
Baroque Flamenco brings the passionate Spanish dance to the harp, played by award-winning musician Rosanna Rolton. Piazzolla’s atmospheric Libertango and Tango Solitaire by the orchestra’s founder composer and artistic director Polo Piatti will transport you straight to the streets of Buenos Aires.
We are delighted to announce we will be joined by tango dancers Phoebe Serenity Brown and Michael McHugh, as well as dance group Amor Flamenco and the brilliant soprano Thomasin Trezise.
Under conductor Derek Carden and leader Liz Norton, the orchestra is thrilled to be performing again with 45 talented local youngsters of St Richard’s Catholic College Choir, who will perform works including Mexican folk song La Cucaracha and Coldplay’s Vida la Vida.
Also displaying their talents will be 11 sensational young dancers of East Sussex School of Performing Arts, who will dance to Tchaikovsky. The group’s previous collaborations at the De La Warr were rousing sell-out performances.
The Fiesta concert concludes with the sweeping Mambo Symphonic Dance from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.
Experience the thrilling music of the south performed by a rousing symphony orchestra more than 70 strong – an unforgettable afternoon awaits!
