Time To Stand And Stare – with Runway

“Come and take part in TIME TO STAND AND STARE”: an invitation issued by RUNWAY artists Roz Cran and Sharon Haward during the recent Coastal Currents Arts Festival. This was an art walk from Hastings Pier along the coast to De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on a beautiful sunny day in September. HOT asked Roz Cran to tell us more about the project.

Global Strike in Hastings and St Leonards

Coinciding with simultaneous well-planned actions around the world on every continent, The Global Strike happened in Hastings and St Leonards. Youth Strikers 4 Climate Action united with Extinction Rebellion, other groups, families, friends and individuals, taking time out to take action on behalf of our threatened future on this planet  David Bruce, local photographer and earth activist, took photos so you can see for yourself who was there – and why. Zelly Restorick, who participated, reflects on the action.

Reekie Collection on display

Steps To The Sea: James Bloomfield

St Mary in the Castle is excited that James Bloomfield, a local documentary photographer, will be having an exhibition of new photographs in the Crypt Gallery. The free exhibition ‘Steps to the Sea’ will be on show in the Crypt Gallery from 22 September until 23 October.

£2m funding injection for America Ground

Iconic neighbourhood The America Ground is set to receive £2 million of public funding for an exciting four-year programme to rejuvenate this historic part of Hastings beginning in April 2020.

The Pledge Project

The Pledge Project is a simple idea – to get as many people as possible in Hastings, St Leonards & surrounding areas to sign a one sentence pledge saying how they will, in some way, reduce their impact upon the environment.

The Big Sleep for Seaview 2019

The Seaview Project’s annual sponsored sleep takes place on Friday 27 September, raising awareness and vital funds for some of the town’s most vulnerable people and there are still some boxes left for more sleepers to take part. Sue Burgess writes.
