Top musicians support festival welcoming refugees to Hastings

Award winning jazz musicians Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw and Sarah Jane Morris, and poet John Hegley, are among the artists appearing at Festival by the Lake on Sunday 24 June, 12 – 8pm in the beautiful surroundings of Ashburnham Place, near Battle, East Sussex.

St Leonards man in seniors’ Ashes series

It’s not often you get an opportunity to play for your country, especially when you’re getting on a bit, but when the chance to tour Australia with the England Over 70s cricket team came Graham Corke’s way, he jumped at it. News from the 1066 Local Energy Campaign

The 1066 Local Energy campaign, an initiative from not-for-profit Energise Sussex Coast (ESC), aims to ‘increase community owned renewable energy, keeping money within our local area, decarbonising our energy and creating a fairer deal for us all’. Kate Meakin of 1066 Local Energy and ESC is keen to spread the news and gather support for the various initiatives they are developing.

Colourful storytelling by Angie Braven

Angie Braven’s exhibition at the Fleet Gallery in St Leonards simply stops you in your tracks. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths noticed people coming into the gallery, looking around and sighing the word “colour”, as if the sun had just come out from behind a cloud.

18 Hours will once again be producing St Leonards Festival in 2018: ‘a fabulous family friendly day’ planned for Saturday 30 June in Warrior Square Gardens, with a main stage and a later finish time of 10.30pm.

Tottenham Legends come to Hastings

Hastings Harbour: Promises, Empty Promises: Fishermen Protest against Tory Policy.

HOT’s Chandra Masoliver reports on the recent Fishermen’s Protest against Tory policy. She interviews three local fishermen, Paul Joy, Chairman of Hastings Fishermen’s Protection Society (HFPS) and Co-Chairman of the New Under Ten’s Association (NUTFA), which protects the rights of under ten metre fishing boats; Paul Stanley, fisherman and boy ashore; and Roland Kelly, owner of RX52, RX53, RX54 and DR169. She also reports on her attempt to interview Amber Rudd on the Harbour Proposal.
