Vocal Explosion’s new season starts

Choirs are very popular in Hastings and beyond, aware of all the health giving benefits of exercising the vocal chords and sharing time with others, united in learning tunes and words and working in harmony together. Local world music community choir, Vocal Explosion, headed by Juliet Russell, is getting ready for the new season of sessions and welcomes you to join in.

Master Balladeer – Peter Bolwell

Hot’s Sean O’ Shea talks to Peter Bolwell who is one of the most talented and engaging musicians on the local acoustic session’s circuit; he is also one of the most unassuming. As well as buckets of musicality he has a dry sense of humour, hence his performances are peppered with wry jokes and quirky observations on the human condition. He can be heard playing and singing at sessions and events in and around the Old Town, as well as on Wednesday evenings at Mungo’s Cafe near Hastings pier.

LibDems tell it like it is!

The Liberal Democrats have already made a mark on this year’s local elections by choosing not to stand candidates in Old Hastings in order to improve the chances of the Green Party succeeding on the basis of opposition to the proposed harbour marina development which the two parties share. Now their best-known face in town, Nick Perry, along with his fellow candidate Eve Montgomery, tell HOT’s Nick Terdre how they see this moment in local politics and the changes they would like to see in local government.

The pier needs your support!

The Friends of Hastings Pier (FoHP) are urging all pier supporters to attend the public meeting called for Monday 23 April to make clear to administrators and stakeholders that there is mass backing for keeping the pier in community hands. Meanwhile a bid to bring Hastings Pier Charity out of administration has been submitted to the administrators. HOT’s Nick Terdre (also a member of FoHP) has been updated on the current state of the campaign by another member, Jim Breeds.
