Tottenham Legends come to Hastings
The Tottenham legends are coming to Hastings on Sunday 22 April at 2–5pm to play a match against our local legends, players from Hastings United at the Pilot Field. HOT’s sports writer Harvey Cato tells us more…
This is a brilliant opportunity for Hastings. All proceeds will go to the Conquest Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal. It’s set to be an amazing day with many legendary players from the past, both from Tottenham Hotspur and Hastings United. VIP tickets sold out within four hours of going on sale, which shows this fundraiser is going to be popular! Details of how to get your tickets are at the bottom of this article.
The event is being organised by Joanne Nesbit who is the Fundraising and Events Coordinator for the Hastings United Sports and Social Club. Joanne feels that this event has given the local community an opportunity to give something back by way of the Conquest Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal. Joanne is sure many of us may need this or has a family member or friend that has benefited from its use.
Lots of people have asked Joanne why she does all this, and her answer is, ‘My nephew Calum Taylor was diagnosed with Autism and Severe Learning Disabilities when he was two. It was so heart-breaking to see the day to day struggles that her brother and his wife went through but having two children herself she could not do all the things to help that she would have liked.
‘A local charity, Charity for Kids, helped them financially to enable Callum’s life to be a little easier and as a result she wanted to give something back to other local causes as a thank you for what they have done to help him.’
The players involved are: Gareth Howells, David Howells, Darren Anderton, Justin Edinburgh, Paul McVeigh, Mark Falco, Stuart Nethercott, Tony Galvin, Andy Sinton, Chris Perry, David Kerslake, Kevin Watson, Luke Young and Steve Clemence.
Also, after the game there will be an auction of Tottenham shirts worn by captain Hugo Lloris and star striker Harry Kane. Alternatively you can contact Joanne personally via the contacts listed below to bid. There is a reservation price set at £200.
Kick off is at 2pm on Sunday 22 April. Entry for adults and children over five is £5. It is free for children under five.
Advance tickets are on sale from the Hastings United Sports and Social Club or Hastings Tourist Information Centre in Muriel Matters House on the seafront.
VIP tickets which include meeting the players, autograph opportunities and a chance to bid on the memorabilia shirt sold out within four hours of going on sale.
