Voulez Vous win tickets for the show?

This Abba tribute band has embarked upon a brand new tour for 2013/14, aptly named, ‘Mad about ABBA’ and they visit The White Rock Theatre, Hastings on Saturday 11 May. It has now been 22 years since Voulez Vous’ humble beginnings back in autumn 1992. Why not enter the competition for 2 tickets and more? asks HOT’s Chris Cormack.

25 years of On Yer Bike

Last Sunday’s glorious weather was perfect for the 25th anniversary of the On Yer Bike Castle Cycle Challenge, organised by the Rotary Club of St. Leonards-on-Sea.  Funds were raised for St. Michael’s Hospice, Hastings Lifeboat and other local charities through sponsorship and entrance fees. Report by Pippa Cork and Duncan Hacon of Hastings Urban Bikes.

Morris dancing has always been linked in my mind to village greens, half-timbered pubs selling real ale, cricket matches – the general rural idyll that is now largely preserved in the stockbroker belt.  As a result, it has acquired a sort of UKIP tinge in my mind – red-cheeked men singing Rule Britannia and waving Union Jacks.  Then there’s all that handkerchief waving and general fol-de-rol.  It’s a bit like buying free range eggs in Waitrose – being in touch with the earth without getting your hands dirty, writes Antony Mair.

Parliamentary candidate Sarah Owen addresses the meeting.

Opposition to PO plans grows

Post Office representatives were left in no doubt about the grassroots opposition to plans to find a retail partner for Hastings main post office at a public meeting. The meeting sparked the formation of an action group which plans to meet the proposed partnering initiative head-on. Nick Terdre reports.
