Defend Hastings post office!

A public meeting has been called this Monday, 29 April, to protest plans to close the main Hastings post office. It will be held at 6pm at the White Rock Hotel.

Hastings bid farewell with three points

The final game for Hastings United in the Ryman Premier League saw them host Kingstonian, hoping to do the double over the Ks. United were confirmed relegated on Thursday evening but to sign off with three points would give the players a boost to go into next season. United, in 22nd place with 36 points, and Kingstonian, in 11th with 59 points, went head to head at the Pilot Field on Saturday 27 April. The match report and photos are by HOT’s Liam Willis.

Doors open for home-grown film festival

UPDATE: CORRECTION TO STORY. The  Hastings Shorts series of short films, showing Saturday 27 April at 2.30pm at The Jerwood Gallery, is a new collection and not, as we originally reported, a repeat of last year’s Arrow In The Eye event.

Hastings United relegated

Hastings United’s eight-year spell in the Ryman Premier League came to a sad end last night, 25 April, away to East Thurrock United. Hastings lost the match 1-0 but the only game they were relying on was fellow-strugglers Wingate & Finchley, who are also fighting relegation, writes football correspondent Liam Willis.

Youth has its say on education

A new Youth Select Committee,  mirroring  the UK Parliament Select Committee structure, will give young people the opportunity to scrutinise and discuss government policy on the 2013  topic  ‘Education for Life’. Among those elected to the Committee is Hastings’ own Solomon Curtis writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.
