Here’s what caught my eye this week in Hastings and St Leonards, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick.
Plans to improve Hastings Castle are to go on display at Hastings Town Hall between 6pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday 4 September, with the architect on hand to talk about his ideas.
In September, Virginia Nicholson, granddaughter of the Bloomsbury Group’s Vanessa and Clive Bell, will be giving a talk at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, Charleston, Past, Present and Future, raising funds for local charity, The Sara Lee Trust. HOT’s Zelly Restorick spoke to her about her personal connections and recollections.
Work has begun on an £8million project to provide a modern library and registration service for the people of Hastings. Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted, giving East Sussex County Council the green light to develop the existing facility in the Brassey Institute and expand into the building next door, 12 Claremont.
