Concert to aid Syrian refugees

Drummer and local resident, Jamie Harris, has lately been directing his energy and inspiration into organising a concert at The Roomz, in aid of refugees from Syria. HOT’s Zelly Restorick asked him some questions to find out more.

Thom in Hastings

This town that is my soil

Poet, writer and artist, Thom Kofoed has spent all of his twenty six years living in Hastings. Within a lot of his work is a deep-seated fear of leaving no mark on the world and having his life pass by before he realised what he had. He is frightened more often than not. He is trying in spite of it.

Open doors at the Walled Garden on Sunday 15 September

The Bohemia Walled Garden, located in the middle of Summerfield Woods, a local nature reserve (LNR Site), was built in the mid-19th century as part of the Brisco Estate. The garden, along with a Roman Bath and the Ice House were also part of this grand holding. Over time, however, the garden became neglected and the house itself is now long gone. Christine Mbaye from the Bohemia Walled Garden Association writes about the next stage in the life of this remarkable space.

Solomon Curtis elected youngest Vice Chair of global youth voice organisation.

Solomon is not only the youngest member of the HOT team, but has achieved an outstanding election success – and we offer him our heartiest congratulations!

HYAKKI YAKOU – A Night Walk of A Hundred Demons

Do you believe in magic?

Prepare for invasion – a troupe of young and exuberant singers are taking over St Mary in the Castle!  Barefoot Opera Young Artists, after their great success last year with Mozart’s Magic Flute, bring a characteristically fresh, physical and original production of Purcell’s operatic masterworks: The Fairy Queen and Dido and Aeneas, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.
