Castle plans on display
Plans to improve Hastings Castle are to go on display at Hastings Town Hall between 6pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday 4 September, with the architect on hand to talk about his ideas.
Hastings Borough Council hopes to submit a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund later this year to significantly improve access to, and the facilities within, Hastings Castle.
Cllr Peter Chowney, lead member for regeneration, explained:
“The Castle is our most important link with the battle, which makes us ‘Famously Hastings’.
“We have commissioned Thomas Ford & Partners, expert architects in this field, to come up with some ideas to improve the facilities at Hastings Castle. We really want public feedback on these plans, so would like as many people as possible to come to the town hall next Wednesday evening and see what is being proposed.
“If our bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund is successful, the work on the Castle will be completed in time for the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in October 2016, an event which we hope will be marked nationally.”
