Action plan puts Bohemia’s green spaces at risk

Hastings Borough Council (HBC) ask 27 questions on their proposals for Lower Bohemia and the Town Centre, for public response by Monday 24 September. Is this what the Borough needs or wants? asks Bernard McGinley.

HBC planners back amusement park changes

Council planning officers have recommended acceptance of the application for “extensions and refurbishments” of the sea-front amusement park in the Old Town when it comes before the planning committee next Wednesday. If planning permission is granted, a new footpath will replace the one running between the amusement park and the boating lake. Nick Terdre reports.

Council duty to stop unnecessary tree felling

Tidy Up St Leonards is a voluntary local action team organised by John Funnell, Richard Wesley and others who feel passionately about the state of their local streets. Yes, we pay council tax and the local council has a responsibility to clean the streets, but in the face of cuts in spending and services, it is highly commendable that local citizens are being innovative and taking action.
