‘Trouble in Tahiti’ returns to Hastings

Back in Hastings by popular demand! Following a successful three night run at the Kino Teatr in St Leonards in Autumn 2017, Stage Left Project have been asked to take their production of Bernstein’s ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ to the prestigious Bernstein in Chichester Festival in September 2018. The company will be reprising the production in Hastings before taking it to the home of the Chichester Psalms, written by Bernstein on a trip to the city in 1965.

Soothing Sounds

‘Celebrating unity through voice and sacred sounds’, the Sounding Cosmos II – Sacred Sound Bath event offered by Carolina Baranski and Maa Shaker was as soothing and healing as they promised. The hall at St John’s Church in St Leonards was filled with participants, who happily surrendered themselves to the powerful vibrations and healing sounds of these skilled practitioners. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.

Bengali Festival celebrations

Celebrating the wonderfully diverse culture of Hastings and St Leonards. The Hastings Bengali Forum held their summer festival at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings on Monday 20 August 2018.

Coastal Currents 2018 launches

Joining the growing number of great local eateries, Sea Kale opened earlier this year on London Road, just moments from the promenade in St Leonards on Sea. The brain child of Emma and Matt Kennard-Bowen, Sea Kale celebrates seasonal, local produce in a calm, vintage environment. A. Vasudevan spoke to the couple to find out more about their venture.

Intimate 1-2-1 music experience

Folk in a Box is the UK’s smallest performance venue. One audience member is allowed in at a time. The door is closed behind them. They are given one song, performed by one musician. By the time the song is the over, the musician is just about visible in the darkness and intimacy of the box. The experience is compelling.
