Greens welcome new co-leader to town

The Green Party is riding high, in Hastings as elsewhere after winning their first borough council seat last May. Newly elected co-leader Carla Denyer was in town last week to meet local supporters and add heft to the campaign to win more seats in elections this May. Chris Connelley reports.

Partygate: No harsh words for PM from leading local Tories

Partygate has divided Conservative MPs, some of whom are keen to see prime minister Boris Johnson go while others offer their support. In Hastings Cllr Andy Patmore declines to comment while MP Sally-Ann Hart shies away from openly criticising the party leader. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings Fat Tuesday unveils new acts for 2022 festival

The organiser has announced further details for the 2022 Hastings Fat Tuesday Music Festival, the UK’s largest Mardi Gras and the ultimate mid-winter carnival, taking place between 25 February and 1 March. The five-day, town-wide celebration will present over 350 free gigs, gatherings, parties and parades, alongside ticketed events, with internationally acclaimed artists from across the globe appearing alongside a wealth of local bands.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Hastings Sinfonia, along with five soloists, have arranged a Valentine Concert – Music for the Heart – consisting of many well-known pieces of music suitably full of passion. Nick Terdre reports.
