Summer magic on the pier

Among a full programme of entertainment for families and kids on Hastings Pier during the summer holidays, there will be magic courtesy of local prestidigitator Laurie Temple.

Syrian short stories talk by author

Local author, Bronwen Griffiths will be giving a talk about her book of short stories about Syria, ‘Not Here, Not Us’ at the Cafe Rue de Pera in Queens Road at 6.30pm this Thursday, 27 July. She’ll be talking about why she wrote the book and giving some readings, including new and unpublished work.

28 bus meeting opens dialogue

The 28 bus campaign had a successful meeting with Stagecoach representatives, Dimitri Bridgeland and Ron Jarvis, local councillors, Tania Charman, Peter Chowney, Judy Rogers and Mike Turner and local bus users on the 19 July at Mendham Hall on the West Hill, Hastings. Although no solution was found to this troubled service, it was felt a dialogue was created enabling the campaign to move forward. Marylyn Edwards writes.

The Swift Project celebrates

The latest cohort of women entrepreneurs to take part in The Swift Project celebrated their successful completion of the programme with Home Secretary, Amber Rudd and Becky Shaw, CEO of ESCC, on Friday 21 July in Hastings.

A bigger, better, bolder festival

Now in its third year, the Hastings Fringe Arts Festival will run throughout the month of September opening with a pre-festival evening on Thursday 31 August.

Coasters’ circus and street art

Hastings Borough Council has become a partner in a national initiative using world class circus and street art to boost visitor numbers and civic pride. Year 2 of Arts Council England funded Coasters project seeks to boost the local economy in seaside resorts.
