Multi-instrumentalist to guest at Jazz Hastings

Hiroshima Day 2017

Hastings Against War will commemorate those who lost their lives in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 with a ceremony at the boating lake in Alexandra Park on Sunday 6 August. An estimated 185,000 people perished when US airforce planes bombed the cities, dying as a result of the initial blast, due to fires sparked by the bombs, and as a result of radiation-sickness caused by the explosions. ‘First Heard Shorts’ script-writing competition

If you have ever had a desire to be a script writer, or you already are and have a short play script idea you think is a winner, if you fancy hearing your words read by professional actors, or you just have a story to tell, then ‘First Heard* Shorts’ is a competition with your name on it. The competition has been organised by local writer and script developer, John Knowles, in support of The Hastings Fringe Festival. John is a prolific writer and producer and despite his busy schedule, continues to support local writers and theatre projects.

Community presence to be felt at the Post Office Customer Forum on Thursday 3 August

The Save St Leonards Crown Post Office Campaign is concerned that Post Office Ltd are not taking account of local views on the future of St Leonards Crown Post Office. The Post Office is holding a ‘customer forum’ on Thursday 3 August they have specified that: ‘the decision on the way we operate the branch, so it is run by our new retail partner, is not a matter for public consultation’. Rod Webb and others from the campaign group talk to HOT about the plans for a mass gathering outside the Royal Victoria Hotel where the ‘customer forum’ will be held.
