Heather Alexander – Hastings Fringe Festival

HOT’s Sean O’Shea places the spotlight on Hastings Fringe Festival organiser Heather Alexander (HOT, Arts & Culture, Monday, Aug 24, 2015).  He talked with her about her background in the theatre, her hopes for the festival and her work as a drama teacher with local youth groups.  He also interviewed some of the young people involved in the festival.

Local campaigners recently united to raise awareness of the risks to air quality by the building of the Queensway Gateway road. Earlier this year, following the case Gabriel Carlyle brought to the High Court, Hastings Borough Council – prior to the court case – agreed to withdraw plans for the road, as it would breach current UK and EU directives on air pollution. HOT’s Zelly Restorick reports.

The Vision Day was back in April, where it became clear what issues would be of most interest and importance to local people: food growing, transport, economy, energy, housing and waste. International singer returns to St Leonards

An exotic dancer

So many people drift down to live in Hastings – and sometimes you wonder how and why. One particular person is Japanese, Yumino Seki, an exotic bird in our midst, who is introducing us to her European take on Japanese Butoh dance. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths was curious to know more about her.
