First units for business park but still no jobs

Limited construction may be about to begin at Sea Change Sussex’s North Queensway Innovation Park, but according to Combe Haven Defenders, there is still no sign of the 865 jobs claimed for it. Nick Terdre reports.

Show your love for the countryside and say NO to the North Bexhill Access Road

Local campaigners will gather on Valentine’s Day (Sunday 14 February) to say no to the proposed North Bexhill Access Road (NBAR). They will walk some of the route of the road, which runs for 2.4 kilometres, parallel to Ninfield Road, and stop for a photocall amongst trees threatened by the proposed road.

Peter Jones out as Selep revises chairman’s role

Peter Jones, former leader of East Sussex County council, has lost his job as chairman of the South East Local Enterprise Partnership following a decision by directors not to extend his contract. New specifications have been drawn up for the chairman’s role. Nick Terdre reports.

Local campaigners recently united to raise awareness of the risks to air quality by the building of the Queensway Gateway road. Earlier this year, following the case Gabriel Carlyle brought to the High Court, Hastings Borough Council – prior to the court case – agreed to withdraw plans for the road, as it would breach current UK and EU directives on air pollution. HOT’s Zelly Restorick reports.
