The Proclaimers

The Proclaimers come to town!

How many miles would you walk to see The Proclaimers?! They’ll be appearing at The White Rock Theatre on 1 December, as part of their UK and Ireland tour 2018. The Proclaimers have carved out a niche for themselves in the netherworld where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide. In the process, they have enjoyed Gold and Platinum singles and albums in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Discoveries on Queens Road

Queens Road is a part of Hastings that has been a long time in regeneration. Now it looks like the balance might be tipping in it’s favour, as new businesses begin to emerge. HOT’s Nick Weekes had a look around.

Giovanna Del Sarto and Bern O’Donoghue present “Another Crossing” at Hastings Debates, 28 February 2018

Another Crossing is a collaborative artistic venture by documentary photographer Giovanna Del Sarto and visual artist Bern O’Donoghue, in which they bring their work together to track experiences of precarious living in the framework of the current European humanitarian crisis. Both work though their art to explore our response to the displacement and suffering of those from afar seeking sanctuary with us, using a combination of photography, installation, and discussion. Felicity Laurence from Hastings Community of Sanctuary invites us to join two remarkable artists and talk about crossing cultural boundaries.

Divertimento for Rope and Strings

Divertimento

A concert unravels, we step inside the music. Divertimento for Rope & Strings is a playful, unexpected collaboration between the artist, Gisele Edwards, and two eminent classical musicians. Crossing boundaries of circus, music, physical theatre and visual arts it looks at how we experience music three dimensionally – viscerally, physically, spatially. Dominika Hicks writes.

Hastings beach: Fly Kites Not Drones

Fly Kites Not Drones 2018

In this country, we currently – and one can only hope and pray, permanently – enjoy skies that are free of drone warfare. Residents of other countries are not so lucky. Why we think we can use this technology against others and imagine it will never happen to us, is beyond comprehension. Acknowledging this, Hastings Against War has organised Fly Kites Not Drones 2018, in peaceful solidarity with people who live in countries where drones have been and are still causing death, injury and fear. Rona Drennen writes.
