‘GONE’: arrived, and left, the Pier

On Saturday 11 July, Extinction Rebellion Hastings and St Leonards (XRHSL) temporarily installed 1,200 pairs of children’s shoes on Hastings Pier, in a performance installation entitled GONE. Erica Smith went to witness the fleeting installation.

Coronavirus statistical update: Hastings – Covid coldspot

Beer bike would add to Hastings’ sea front attractions

New ideas are needed as we slowly work our way out of Covid. Local design consultant Ken Davis thinks the beer bike, a concept already put into practice on the Continent, could be adapted to Hastings requirements with positive effects.

Announcing the heritage book choice for ATownExploresABook 2021

The annual ATownExploresABook (ATEAB) festival in St Leonards-on-Sea is an exciting exploration of a heritage book by everyone in the community – including visitors. It’s also the biggest platform for young people’s outdoor art in the region – which you can see on the platform at Southeastern’s Warrior Square station where the local Transition Town community group have created a beautiful garden.

Hastings begins to open up

Hastings took an important step towards reopening on Saturday as step three of the government’s relaxation of lockdown restrictions came into effect. The council issued a cautious welcome but was pleased to see the West Hill Lift back in operation. New support measures for local businesses were announced by the government today. Nick Terdre reports.
