Local film screenings raise funds for Seaview

Yet another date for pier reopening – Monday 1 April

After much toing and froing, a new date for reopening Hastings pier has finally been set – Monday 1 April. In the face of criticism from local MP Amber Rudd and council leader Peter Chowney, pier owner Sheikh Abid Gulzar has issued a defence of his management of the pier. Jerwood to relaunch in July as Hastings Contemporary

Seven years after opening on the historic Stade on the seafront in Hastings, the director and trustees of Jerwood Gallery today announce that on 6 July the gallery will relaunch as Hastings Contemporary – a new, independent, modern and contemporary art gallery backed by a philanthropic donation of £250,000. The gallery reports.

More than 50 lend a hand in Speckled Wood spring clean

There was a good turnout of folk to help clear rubbish from Speckled Wood in Ore last Saturday morning as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean. Ore Community Land Trust, which owns part of the wood and is seeking to buy the remainder, reports.

Vigil to be held for victims of Christchurch attack outside Hastings Mosque on Friday
