Friends take case against solar farms to Natural England

The Friends of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve have continued their campaign against the council’s proposal to install solar farms in the park with a detailed letter to the conservation watchdog Natural England. Meanwhile the council has made arrangements for feasibility studies to be tendered. Nick Terdre reports.

Collapsible stools, a bike and a motley collection of folk poured into the space in Bookbuster’s that Tim Barton had only just managed to get ready at the end of his long working day. And nobody could guess what a heavy day that had been as he handed out glasses of wine and, along with Pete Donohue who was hosting the event, made everyone welcome: the three special guests, poets from the surrounding areas and the ones like us who had come to listen.

HIPCC runner-up Kinasov returns for summer recital

Maxim Kinasov, the brilliant young Russian pianist who won second prize and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra prize at this year’s Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, is returning to the town to give this year’s prestigious Summer Recital at picturesque Fairlight Hall, on the afternoon of Sunday 7 July. Celebrating 60 years of Ronnie Scott’s iconic jazz club

Ronnie Scott’s Story, White Rock Theatre, Wednesday 19 June 2019:  London’s most famous jazz venue is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and Ronnie Scott’s All Stars are on tour to tell the story. HOT’s music correspondent Brian Hick went to hear them when they came to the White Rock Theatre last week for an evening of nostalgia and story-telling, linked with music spanning the whole of the history of the club.
