So often you hear in Hastings, the phrase “Aren’t we lucky”– about the weather, the sea, the culture and the diverse creativity of art and music. Surprisingly, amongst this diversity is Butoh dance, created, choreographed and performed by Yumino Seki. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths talked to her about her latest production at Hastings Museum, Gekka, Under the Moon
Local film-maker Bindu De Stoppani hosts a special screening at the Electric Palace cinema this weekend of her latest feature, Finding Camille. This week has been a busy time for people concerned about the potential closure of the town centre walk-in health centre. All week there have been campaigners getting signatures for the Labour Party-supported petition, on Friday 21 September Amber Rudd MP is holding a meeting at Sussex Coast College Hastings, and on Saturday 22nd at 1pm there will be a get-together outside the Walk-In Centre for people to show their support for keeping the service in the town centre. HOT’s Erica Smith gives us an update.
Sustainability… makes sense, n’est-ce pas? This week of events, jointly organised by Transition Town Hastings (TTH) and Energise Sussex Coast (ESC), is celebrating all things sustainable in our local area: gathering together as many of the organisations who are already thinking in sustainable terms. Starting with the ocean symposium, culminating in a big festival day and with all sorts of good stuff happening in between, you are very welcome to come along, check things out and get involved.
