Fly Kites Not Drones 2017

The other day on the East Hill, a drone flew over the trees above my head. The first I have seen. It was on a mission to somewhere. I didn’t like it… I value my Drone Empty sky and regularly express my gratitude for it, aware that in other countries, people have threatening drones in their lives. And if them, why not us – the technology isn’t the monopoly of certain people in certain lands. Here, John Enefer writes about participating in Fly Kites Not Drones.

Fish cruises home in wind-blown half marathon

Under overcast skies with strong winds gusting, Blackburn’s Ben Fish won the men’s race and Sarah Gruber the women’s in the 2017 Hastings Half Marathon. Nearly 3,500 entered the popular event, which as usual is expected to have raised thousands of pounds for charity. Nick Terdre reports.

Live music club off to a flyer

Hastings is NOT cool – OFFICIAL

The Times has devoted double-page spreads in their T2 supplement this week to a series of ‘Top 20’ places to live in this country. On Tuesday they ranked the ‘coolest places to live in Britain.’ Toby Sargent, our man with the quinoa on artisan bread sandwich, collarless shirt, high-waisted trousers and DH Lawrence beard is furious to discover that Hastings and St Leonards did not make the cut.

Hastings Half Marathon ready for the off

The 33rd Hastings Half Marathon will be run this Sunday, 19 March. It’s shaping up well, with local runners looking well-set to challenge for the top places, race director Eric Hardwick of Hastings Lions tells Nick Terdre. Photos from the 2016 race by Russell Jacobs.
