A debate has been raging among sea swimmers as to whether it is permissible to take a swim in the sea as part of lockdown ‘exercise’. Lifeboat heroes acclaimed at council meeting

RNLI partnership with HBC

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution, who provide the ‘gold standard’ of lifesaving at sea, has been appointed by Hastings Borough Council to operate the Hastings beach lifeguard service for three years – to 2020 – after a successful pilot last year.

Fish cruises home in wind-blown half marathon

Under overcast skies with strong winds gusting, Blackburn’s Ben Fish won the men’s race and Sarah Gruber the women’s in the 2017 Hastings Half Marathon. Nearly 3,500 entered the popular event, which as usual is expected to have raised thousands of pounds for charity. Nick Terdre reports.
