Singled Out games night

Local resident, Alison Cooper, a person who has an idea and follows it through with action, is running her second singles event. The first was a dance night – and now, a games evening. Her aim is for single people to have some fun, meet other single people in an informal environment – and possibly – who knows? – cross paths with their future soul mate. Zelly Restorick writes.

Get ready for a  Frosty Reception this Saturday

This Saturday, 25 November sees the streets of Central St Leonards come to life for the Towns Fifth annual frost fair and Parade, now a firm favourite in the towns event calendar, the day’s activities will culminate in the switching on of the towns fabulous Christmas light display that was won in a prestigious competition in 2015.

A thought-full show for Christmas

Ever seen the 1892 illustration of a man’s profile in which his three daughters’ faces are hidden? Apart from serving as a reflection on gender statuses at that time, it reminds us just how long hidden pictures in illustration have been around in the media, pictures that grab our attention and thoughts. This is just one of the fascinations that East Sussex’s experimental theatre company ExploreTheArch draws on this Christmas in their new production The House of Midwinter Thought. Run for Sarah Lee Trust

Run the Hastings Half Marathon and raise much-needed funds for local charity, The Sara Lee Trust, which improve the lives and well-being of people affected by cancer and other life- threatening illnesses in the Hastings and Rother area through the provision, free of charge, of psychological and counselling support, creative and complementary therapies, and therapeutic group activities.

A ten week introduction to wood engraving, a delicate and powerful printmaking technique, whose best known local practitioners were Eric Ravilious and Eric Gill. The course will cover history, tools, image making and printing.

Deconstruct Yourself: A Deconstructed Rave on Friday 1 December at The De La Warr Pavilion, where Graham Dunning and three other artists – Joanne Armitage, Tom Richards and Leslie Deere – will take over the building to present an evening of live music and visual performance.
