Here come the girls!

Eight lady residents along with their key workers and volunteers from Mary House, Martha Trust Hastings joined over 1000 people and took part in the Race for Life which was held at Alexander Park Hastings on Sunday (11 June).

Petitions and fake news

The day after the election, a petition entitled ‘Ruddy manipulation to Stop’ was started on the 38 Degrees website seeking to have the election result in Hastings referred to the Electoral Commission, questioning the number of recounts and trust in the proceedings. This petition was later withdrawn. 

Town centre conservation proposals

Hastings Borough Council is consulting on changes to the town centre conservation areas. Your chance to get involved.

Bike ride for Little Gate Farm

Local resident, Guy Hacon, will be cycling from Oxford to Hastings, a distance of 175 miles in support of Little Gate Farm in Beckley near Rye, an innovative and purposeful care farm project supporting children and adults with learning disabilities.

The Opus Theatre

The Opus Theatre will be launched in July 2017 and operate in the beautiful Grade II listed building of the former Congregational Church (presently His Place) at 24-25 Cambridge Rd, Hastings Town Centre. HOT’s Sean O’Shea talks to composer and musical director, Polo Piatti about the purpose of this new project, his hopes for its development and the range of activities which will be hosted at the venue.

Exploring Monteverdi

Barefoot Opera continues to explore new ways of hearing and seeing music with a visual narrative of desire from Monteverdi’s beautiful sensual part songs. In collaboration with Cantemus, a chamber choir specialising in newly discovered and rarely heard music from the Renaissance and Baroque period, this unique event celebrates the 450th anniversary of the birth of Monteverdi.

Free health walks

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), who run the East Sussex Health Walks project are launching two new Health Walks. One from outside the station Plaza Medical centre in Hastings on Thursday 22 June and one from Hastings Pier.
