Castle plans on display

Plans to improve Hastings Castle are to go on display at Hastings Town Hall between 6pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday 4 September, with the architect on hand to talk about his ideas.

In September, Virginia Nicholson, granddaughter of the Bloomsbury Group’s Vanessa and Clive Bell, will be giving a talk at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, Charleston, Past, Present and Future, raising funds for local charity, The Sara Lee Trust. Work begins on multi-million pound library redevelopment in Hastings

Work has begun on an £8million project to provide a modern library and registration service for the people of Hastings. Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted, giving East Sussex County Council the green light to develop the existing facility in the Brassey Institute and expand into the building next door, 12 Claremont.

They Do It With Ease

In a radical new use for empty spaces under the St Leonards promenade, a group of art students from London, Hastings and St Leonards staged an exhibition of their work in The Old Beach House last Friday August 23. Two of the organisers, Jaf Yusuf and Rosie Haward, tell us more about it.

Skate park extension opens in time for Boyley Jam

The £61,000 phase two extension at the Boyley Skate Park in Falaise Road, Hastings, is now open. The extension, funded by contributions from Safer Hastings Partnership, Hastings Borough Council, Boyley Trust, Sussex Police and Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund, will host its first event – the Boyley Jam
