A Dose of Utter Nonsense
A Dose of Utter Nonsense!
This new CD is a collection of songs, readings and piano music, based on the wonderful writings of those two masters of the absurd, Edward Lear and Lewis Carroll. It derives from a concert put on in Hastings Museum in 2010, and features some of the original performers: Geoff Hutchinson (narration), Gary Marriott (tenor songs & narration) and Rebecca Mason (jazz singer). All the music is by Michael Short, who also plays the piano and keyboards.
A Dose of Utter Nonsense includes Edward Lear favourites such as The Owl & the Pussy-Cat and The Duck & the Kangaroo, and Lewis Carroll is represented by items from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass & What Alice Found There, and Sylvie & Bruno.
The CD should appeal to nonsense lovers of all ages (from 3 to 103+) and would make a useful and unusual Christmas present. The CD is priced at £10, plus £1.50 postage & packing. Please send a cheque for £11.50 made out to ‘M.Short’ to 13 Boscobel Road North, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN38 0NY.
Michael’s previous CD A Touch of Jazz is also available at £10, plus £1.50 p&p.
The book of the original concert, Utter Nonsense in Hastings, is available from Circaidy Gregory Press and Michael’s biography of Gustav Holst is also available from the same publisher. Or contact Michael via email: mshort@dassells.free-online.co.uk
