17th Hastings International Piano Competition opens for entries

The 17th Hastings International Piano Competition will take place from 22 Feb – 2 March 2024 and entry is now open, by video audition. The deadline for entries is 15 September 2023, and full details of how to enter the competition are here.

Meet Georgie Wheeler, the YELLOW curator

Georgie Wheeler is curating a show called YELLOW at the Stade. Georgie Wheeler, aka G_wizz_wheeler is an active Hastings illustrator/artist whose work is well known, popping up on murals, posters, and electricity boxes. She has recently designed the programme and marketing materials for the Hastings Comedy Festival. Jude Montague interviewed her for Hastings Online Times.

This Carers’ Week, local charity Care for the Carers is celebrating and supporting carers to have their voices heard and their needs recognised.

Hastings Comedy Festival 2023

The UK comedy circuit returns to Hastings and St Leonards for this year’s Hastings Comedy Festival, running for five days from 14–18 June. 2023 is the festival’s eighth year of bringing laughter and live comedy entertainment to our town with another excellent programme of live comedy shows from some of the funniest and creative comedians performing on the comedy circuit today.

Greens accuse Labour of “power grab” at Full Council

The local Green Party has accused Labour of a “power grab” after Labour councillors were elected to all committee chairs and vice chairs with the help of a Reform UK councillor, Lucian Fernando.  They also criticise Labour’s handling of various council issues. Labour has denied doing a deal with Fernando. Nick Terdre reports.
