The Parkinsongsters

On Monday 18 December, the ParkinSongsters sang a selection of traditional Christmas carols and seasonal songs at St John’s Church Hall, Brittany Road, Saint Leonards-on-Sea. It was a magnificent performance, with beautiful, uplifting singing and harmonies.

Jen Painter remembered

Jen Painter, artist, life long vegetarian and quiet worker for peace, women’s rights and the environment died on Friday 8 December at St Michael’s Hospice after a long and gutsy struggle with cancer. Her daugher, Laura Dunton Clarke, and her friend, Lorna Vahey, share some of their memories of Jen.

New Covid-19 strain and flu add to NHS winter pressure

A fast-growing new strain of Covid-19, coupled with the usual winter onslaught of flu and other respiratory diseases, looks set to put the NHS under pressure into the New Year. Basque insights on the possibilities of significant change

The Basque Country in northern Spain used to be a byword for chaos, violence, poverty and failure. Now it’s a byword for transformation instead. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is a totem of that change, a symbol but not a cause.
