New 5G threat for Combe Haven

A planning application for a 5G telecommunications mast and cabinets has been made for Combe Haven Holiday Park.  This also affects Combe Haven Countryside Park, Harley Shute and Pebsham.  The proposed mast is exceptionally high (23.16 metres, 76 feet), compared with recent ones of 15 m (over 49 feet) that were rejected. It comes with six antennae.  The deadline for comments (set by Hastings Borough Council, HBC) is Friday 8 September. Bernard McGinley reports.

Corrie Dick’s Sun Swells

Jazz Hastings September session features a young musician and composer at the epicentre of a new era of innovative British jazz. Drummer Corrie Dick’s stated aim is to expand the parameters of what it means to be a drummer. He’ll be playing on Tuesday 12 September at the East Hastings Sea Angling Association on the Stade. Julian Norridge sings the praises of this remarkable drummer.

‘All That Jazz’ in Robertson Street

Strollers in Robertson Street on Sunday afternoon (3 September) were treated to a pavement concert by the Big Band: a 16-piece ensemble, tight and smooth.  The venue was Barnaby’s (Le Petit Balcon). Bernard McGinley was charmed by the band.
