Rocklands: Grounds for FoI refusal shown to be untrue

Hastings Borough Council’s record in dealing with the Bunker in Rocklands caravan park is not one to be proud of, involving as it does years of evasion and failure to engage with complaints. Now it is claiming the non-existence of documents that tangibly exist, as Chris Hurrell of Save Ecclesbourne Glen makes clear.

What future for our performance venues?

As Hastings enters a second period of lockdown, and the few performance venues which had reopened must close their doors once more, the question of how they can survive and eventually return to activity is a crucial one. Playing the Race Card, what does it mean to us in 2020?

The ‘Playing the Race Card’ project is to give BAME artists in the locality an opportunity to showcase their art and be in with the chance of winning an amazing cash prize of £500. Construction of Queensway Gateway Road resumes

Sea Change Sussex has resumed construction of the Queensway Gateway Road after a long delay. The road is now following a temporary route while East Sussex County Council seeks to take possession of the area needed to fulfil its original trajectory through compulsory purchase. Nick Terdre reports.

Vigil on the Stade to mourn family drowned in Channel

A well-attended vigil was held in the Stade Open Space on Sunday to mourn the family of five who lost their lives in the Channel last week. Seeking refuge is not a crime but a legal right, Polly Gifford of Hastings Community of Sanctuary told the gathering. Nick Terdre reports.

XR rebel pleads mitigating circumstances
