Photohastings’ season of photography

October sees commencement of the Photohastings 2019 season of photography, which runs through October and November, Andrew Moran (Co-chair of Photohastings) reports.

2 Great Sci-fi books with a difference (plus literary events from 15 Oct 2019)

Sci-fi books are not always about strange-looking aliens with whom earthlings are about to do battle. Angela J. Phillip briefly reviews two novels that could be said to be sci-fi but that don’t always feel as though they are. Each one offers a powerful comment on human beings and how we might develop. Each one is a thought-provoking read.

TLC needed for community garden

Transition Town Hastings (TTH) volunteers have created a beautiful community garden at St Leonards Warrior Square Station for everyone to enjoy and to feel able to help themselves to the produce. However, they really could do with some more help in maintaining and nurturing the garden!

Conversations without words

This Saturday sees the opening of a one-month long visual conversation between four artists. Erica Smith visited Solaris gallery in Norman Road, St Leonards to listen to the pictures talk.

New job centre for Rye under study, says DWP

Labour’s campaign to get a job centre reopened in Rye has gained a lot of local support though it has yet to persuade the authorities, though the DWP confirms that studies are under way. Nick Terdre reports.
